About Me
Who I Am
My name is Jon but, you can call me Boone. I'm an artist based in Columbia, South Carolina, and I create highly detailed, surreal illustrations that live somewhere between the dreamlike, psychedelic abstract and the deeply personal. My work is built from intricate linework, organic shapes, and symbolic imagery — pieces that feel immersive, expressive, and meditative all at once.
How I Got Here
Drawing has always been a way for me to make sense of things. Over the years, I've navigated periods of anxiety, fear, and depression — and somewhere in the middle of all of that, I found that putting pen to paper was one of the few things that consistently helped. It quieted my mind. It gave me direction when everything else felt uncertain. It turned overwhelming emotions into something I could look at, sit with, and eventually understand.
Pen and ink on paper is where my style developed and where I still feel most connected to the work. There's something grounding about the simplicity of it — just a pen, a page, and whatever needs to come out.
What I Make
My illustrations blend chaos and structure. They're surreal and abstract, but rooted in a personal, 100% real emotional experiences. Cosmic elements, organic forms, intricate patterns - most of my work is either a dedicated attempt or some subconsciously crafted need to translate internal dialogue into something tangible and visible.
The work is expressive and introspective, but along the way I have discovered that it has grown to be beautiful, both the process as well as the final result. I want people to be able to sit with it.
Why I Do This
My artwork has always been the thing that made me feel seen — something I could call my own. My hope is that it does the same for others.
For those who are struggling to feel grounded, connected, or simply understood, I believe art has a unique ability to reflect those experiences back in a way that feels honest rather than heavy. Mental health is something most of us navigate alone, and far too quietly. That silence deserves a response.
There's a real freedom in feeling recognized — and I've lived it. If someone looks at one of my pieces and feels a little less alone in what they're carrying, that means everything to me.
